Wedding songs
May 12, 2008 09:50PM
I'm sort of in the process of planning my wedding and was wondering what you guys thought would be good songs to have played at my wedding reception.

We don't have a song picked out that's particular to us as a couple, and I was trying to think if there were any Nine Days songs that we could use for our first dance.

The Moment has an emotional/love touch to it.

Worth Fighting for has a good message but I don't know if I consider it to be mushy enough. It has some good lines in it though, like the whole part that comes after "It's all right if you can't stop smiling...." I'm not sure how to interpret the first part of the song though.. it kind of seems like things could be going badly, but he's still saying the relationship is worth fighting for. And then there's the part that says "There's no way I can save us both anymore."

This interpretation of it makes me think it may not be a good first dance wedding song. However, I just get chills just thinking about being up there dancing with the first part of the song playing. Plus they played it when my fiance and I saw them in Milwaukee (my first show) and he really liked the song.

What do you guys think? And, do they have any mushy/lovey songs that I'm could be missing out on? I haven't heard as much of their solo stuff or some of the ones that aren't on the CD compilations.

I could also use any suggestions for ones you think will be good for reception dancing. I'm already thinking "New Shoes" for one of them. I've decided I must have at least one song by them played if not 5 or 6.

On second thought, I kind of think Worth Fighting For might be good as a dancing song, since it's kind of quick paced, and that way I'd still get to have it played.

"I Love You" would be a great one I would think.

MusicDude has it right.

The ND cover of I Love You is killer. I think there was a story behind it where they had to learn and record it in the same day--but it sounds good to me.

Side note: When the guys were doing their weekly concerts during the summer in Port Jeff a couple of years back, I was going to yell it out as a request, but I just wasnt comfortable yelling out "I love you" to the band.

How would I go about getting ahold of "I Love You" without buying The New Guy soundtrack?

"I Love You" can be downloaded here --> http://www.ninedaysmore.com/ndmfiledb/index.php?act=view&id=55

As you can see below, I have some suggestions. I've broken them into two parts.

PART ONE
Great songs that may work

Absolutely Everything - Brian Desveaux
You and I don't believe in the same things
You and I can't agree on anything
It's what you remind me of all that I'm dreaming
We've got the perfect kind of love it's absolutely everything

The Best We'll Ever Be - John Hampson
When we're together I'm just better than I thought I could be
Turn the page open the cage someday this will be our story
In the darkness of my car the secrets stay for always...
As we fall and we laugh and we raise up our glass
To the best we'll ever be.

The Price - Nine Days
How long I've wanted
This dream to come true
And as it approaches
I can't believe I'm through

PART TWO
Songs that are great, but may possibly be interpreted differently...

As Long As It Takes (Live) - John Hampson
I could be everything if everything is all that you need.

Still Here - Nine Days
And I would be there to soften your fall
And I would be there for the good of it all
I will not let you feel you've wasted all your time
And everyday we have is one more day that you'll be mine

Everything - Nine Days
That I would be yours and you would be mine
And everything else here would work out just fine
If we could hold on, we could be everything
We could be everything

Great Divide - Nine Days
Maybe we can find a way to fall into eachother's arms

Oceans - Nine Days
But if you'd wake up near me here you'll find
I would be the water of waves in oceans crashing on the shores of your body,
I am forever sinking in your sand.
Don't have to look much farther, standing strong for you,
I'd steal all the salt from the raging sea,
To bring back loves divinity today

Sorry for a long list, but with ND, it's really hard to limit the list.
best of luck =),

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm thinking I might go with "I Love You." Either that or "The Moment." Hopefully my fiance likes one of the two enough to use it.
