i wrote this a while back, and thought i'd share it here since i used the phrase 'so happily unsatisfied' in it. and for your reference, eldila are little invisible god-bird-like creatures that exist in c.s. lewis's books about space travel. not narnia. so there you are.
******
black pavement pricked by lover's fingertips
icy cold with its rain and its glitter sundae
if you walk out into it, dark all at once
your heart gets ripped into pieces
and you'll never read the manual on why.
your brain processes scenery to draw a blank
and your lips fall dead on what you meant to say
you can't write it down, paradoxes don't translate
and your pencil dissolves in acid
the paper bursts into flames when you cry.
that one miniscule raindrop erasing your mind
and you'll never look the same on the time of day
every eon takes another fibre from your being
and each raindrop another neuron from your tale
every truth you write down is another lie.
so happily unsatisfied with what you'll never find
and blasphemy's rainbow is your color, in a way
you paint your story and emotion with water
and there's nothing you can say to make it true
until eldila take you when in travel you die.

I used to be a superhero
no one could touch me, not even myself
you were like a phonebooth that i somehow stumbled into
now look at me, i'm just like everybody else.
