tonights show

hey everyone,

this is just a venting post... im sure a lot of you experienced what i have tonight.

we get to the vanderbilt at around 730... we were waiting for a couple of friends... so we decided to wait in the lounge. this is when the big guy came out and was like...

"what are you doing? you have to be 21 and over... roar roar roar! this will never be a concert hall... or a hang out... AGAIN... get out... bla bla"

so we drive to the back where we see other people waiting outside. we decide to wait with them... got yelled at by big guy and skinny gross guy...

this happened a few more times... all the guy kept saying iwas that it was a mistake and we couldnt go in... ummm it was a mistake on 3 different websites!

then my friends cousin arrived (over 21) and went to find out if we could go in with him... someone said we could if she stayed with us the whole time AND... this is the best part... EACH SPENT $10 PER PERSON PER HOUR. later when the skinny guy came out he said that we couldnt go in with a guardian... only our mothers... everything they said contradicted something else they said... oh and we were being accused of soliciting? umm you mean loitering? anyway... so frustrating... eventually we gave up and listened to the show on the radio. it was cool for the guys to dedicate "if i am" to all of us... we know its not your fault guys!

the stupid owner kept saying, "i dont care what john thinks... hes not the owner... bla bla" im like wow you have issues. for all you who got to see the show, hope you had fun... for the rest who werent allowed in... see you at the next downtown or village pub show...

Heather

PS: jackie, hope you guys made it in...

night all

hey did we talk to you outside? were you with the rowdy group of people who were flipping out on the bitchy skinny guy, who said his favorite nine days song was welcome to the jungle? did the owner of the place tell you you were driving away customers? LOL! if you were, i was one of the other girls who were turned away and standing outside w/ you guys, LoL.

For the people who were not able to get in.... THAT BLOWS..

Although I always clown around and say that all shows should be 21 and over, I was pissed that my girls couldnt get in (dont read too much into that term). Lou and I BOTH agreed that it was a mess up on LIR's or Palmers Part and that John was going to be geniunely pissed about people who couldnt get in.

If it makes you feel any better....they pissed me off too. They were really anal about the assigned??? seating for everyone. On a better note, they have a dessert called Boiling Butterscotch Buns which is orgasmic.

I would love to say that the show sucked and that you should be glad you didnt get in. But I can't. Heres why...

I got there early and had dinner. Brian was on stage tuning up and was playing Over the Hills and Far Away by Zeppelin. The kid actually sounded good. As he was passing by, he said hello, and that there is a surprise for me. Hmmm...WTF???

They had a couple of opening acts. I finally got to see Stage. He was good even though he sounds like Neil Diamond.

As the opening acts were playing I heard pieces of the guys tuning up and rehearsing to my left. WELL DIP MY BALLS IN SWEET CREAM AND TIE ME DOWN IN A ROOM FULL OF KITTENS!!! SOUNDS LIKE CHORDS FROM GREENER GRASS!!! NO FRIGGIN WAY!!!!

Sure enough-- opening song was Greener Grass...they also did IF I Am and Muddy Water...Not sure how much other songs got on the radio..as John was also somewhat not in best voice. Someone asked John to play Another Day..which he did...well...almost...he kinda stopped the song when the high parts came in....

(FYI...Greener Grass is capoed at 4, Another Day is capoed at 6)

They also did Absolutely, Good Friend, Favorite Song..maybe something else. Honestly..I was so mangled by Greener Grass....I was speechless. I was without speech..

PS. If someone has a tape of tonights show, I would love to have a copy!!!!

i dont think we were being rowdy at all... my friends were sitting in my car actually... but i was the one who asked him what his fav nine days song was... after he said that they were his fav band. i know none of us raised our voice at anyone there... basically i felt we were all being talked down to just because were werent 21 and i wasnt going to just sit in my car and drive home without an answer.

i cant believe the owner though... yeah he said we were causing his business to go down... how is that anyway? we were in the back parking lot talking to eachother... we werent even in the front so people would see... if anything they lost a lot of potential customers... oh well... sucks for the vanderbilt.

*Just to add...

i think that the vanderbilt really disrespected the guys and the guys should know this. all they kept saying was they dont care about the band and that the band wasnt running the place. we were aware that he was the owner, but all we kept saying was when the guys found out that a lot of their fans were being denied entry, theyd be pissed. from what i could tell, the owner didnt seem professional at all... in 2 years when im allowed to consume alcohol, you wont catch me ever in palmers.

they were acting like we were all going to cause some kind or riot when we were all just trying to talk to other nine days fans. if they would look around they would see a bunch of quiet young adults wanting to catch a great acoustic show. we were like 3 groups of girls and a couple of guys... like we were gonna trash the place??!? and just because alcohol was being served didnt mean we couldnt go in. its not against the law... hello??? the downtown. same county... same laws. and if that guy said one more time that "the vanderbilt will never be a concert hall or hang out again..." i think im gonna scream! we were all aware of the peaceful environment that was expected... all we wanted to do was see the guys and listen to something different that we had experienced in the past. i hope they do another acoustic show somewhere....

thats enough of the venting, i swear! night everyone! im not reading this over, so if you see grammatical errors or whatnot... just ignore them (:

Psh..we were hissing and howling and had a big fire going.

Or...

how about not a single car had even entered the parking lot (the BACK parking lot) the entire time we were there...how stupid.

Lou suggested we report Palmer's to the Better Business Bureau of Nassau for false advertising, and honestly...I don't see why not.

If anyone else wants to...please do.

Heather, I'm sorry, rowdy was the wrong word to use. When I said "rowdy," i meant "the people who were being louder than us," and we weren't saying a word to them. No matter which way you look at it, they fucked us over. Oh, and you were the girl who was asking what their favorite song was, and he told you "welcome to the jungle?" Heh, you look like another poster on here a little, Christina (i believe she posts as lady brunrick).

I've been telling everyone and their mothers to avoid Palmers at all costs. And Erin, tell me what I need to do to report them, and I so totally will, in a heartbeat.

<<Brian was on stage tuning up and was playing Over the Hills and Far Away by Zeppelin.>>

Damn that's one of my top 5 Zep songs... anyone get this one on tape?

>>anyone get this one on tape?<<

That was before the radio broadcast. So it would've been impossible to tape, unless Lou or Scott had a tape recorder with them inside.

I have never posted here before, but I registered and all just for the sake of responding to this one. I just wanna say that last night was a total bust! Me and three others went to Palmer's to try and get in, but were turned away along with everyone else. So we decide to just drive around for a while, maybe park at the beach or something to listen to the show on LIR. So we leave, we get some gas, and a minute later are rear ended while sitting at a red light by some lady on Montauk Highway. She hit us hard I tell ya!! So everyone is fine and all, but my poor car is a freakin mess, most likely totalled, we didn't get to hear the show one way or the other, and it's all Palmer's fault!! AAARRGH!!

But thank you to Nine Days for dedicating If I Am to us all, and for being just as mad at Palmer's as we all are!! You're the best!
