pop or soda?

Well now.. I didn't mean to hit new subject but since I did I guess I'll make a new subject. I'm not quite sure what to talk about. I've got a question!! Do you say pop or soda? Or something else completely? Being from MN, I say pop. I once went down south and called it pop and they looked at me funny. Hehe, oh well.

Well, I'm from Michigan but for some unknown reason I say soda and I don't know why either... Weird huh? I think pop sounds freaky when ppl say it!

Hmm.. I thought most Michigan people did say soda. It seems like only MN and WI say pop. I could be wrong though.

You def. say soda here on LI. My friend from Texas says coke. It's the weirdest thing she'll ask for a 7up coke...lol. I had her explain it to me like 5 times. "So if a waitress would ask you what you wanted to drink what would she say?" "What kinda coke do you want?" I don;t know I still dont' quite get it but I learned to accept...lol

haha funny story.. i'm in windsor, ON... so we call is pop.... i went over to MI and i forget where.. but somewhere.. and i asked what kind of pop do you have.. i got the wierdest look!!!! i was like WHAT!!!!.... it was hilarious...

THAT is so crazy! Everyone that comes into where I work here in MI looks at me like I'm a freak when I say soda to them... Hmmm....

let's see....some people call it "soft drink" here in new orleans. soda works too. now "coke" is used when talking about soda in general i guess sometimes...but we don't say 7up coke hehe


and yes...pop sounds freaky. that's a type of music...not drink :p

I'm a Jersey guy, so it has been and always will be soda. However, I've been in Ohio for a couple years, and it's "pop" here.

Over here in the UK it is pop - but for us Scots it is called ginger!!!!!! dont ask me why but that is what we call it.

Pop sounds weird to me and I tend to use Coke or whatever cause in England noone has a clue what ginger is

It's pop in ohio. I stayed with my aunt and uncle for a week in Tennesse, and they said soda and soft drink. Messed with my head...

i went to boarding school...*gags*...and yeah, all the lovely chillen off the east coast (u.s.) say pop, and us east coast natives say soda. ive never been off the east coast....*sigh*...

yep, everyone here says pop. but im one of those soda people. i have no idea where i picked it up, but my whole family makes fun of me

yea.....in buffalo they say "pop" i actually took a picture of a sign that said "pop" if you go to dinner and ask for a coke, they ask you what flavor you want

Oh yeah, I do live in TX.. so anyway..

Here you got some kids saying all sorts of things.. but as with most things, if you say it with confidence they'll assume you've been saying it all your life you know? So in other words at a business I would like to think that they have heard it all and if you say pop then they will ask what kind or if you are at a buffet, then they will charge you for a soda as well.

The reason I used pop is because most people here don't use that but I distinctly going remember going to CiCi's Pizza buffet and a guy I was with ordered a buffet and a "pop."

I say pop sometimes just to say it, but it's not a part of me, so I don't really use it that often. I usually say what I want so I don't confuse anybody.

I'd like a Sprite please.

I'd like a Coke please. What kind of Coke? Just Coke! Yeah but what kind?
