For all of you out there who dig 3eb...
March 12, 2003 01:08PM
...now, as some of you may know, I help run a very large 3eb site (www.3eb.co.uk), so after a LONG wait, this news is amazing. Last time I brought them up I surprisingly recieved quite a bit of resentment and negative reactions...

However, I know at least a few of you are fans, so I thought I'd share. If you're not interested, then just skip over this message.

The 8 or so songs I've heard from the new record have all been phenomenal, so I can't wait to hear what this studio cut sounds like. The single is called "Blinded" (formerly known as "An Old Friend Coming Over"), and it's one of their best songs in a long time. It will premier online this friday on AOL, and hit radio the same day.

Here's the press release from Elektra:

Third Eye Blind Unveiling New Music This FRIDAY (3/14)!

3EB will be introducing the world to their highly anticipated new album, Out Of The Vein, this Friday on AOL. The band will debut a track from the album on AOL's First Listen, and members can take part in this special event by logging on this Friday starting at midnight! The First Listen will appear on the 'welcome screen', so there's no way you can miss it.

This will mark the first time you will be able hear a brand new song from the new Third Eye Blind album. The track will only be up on AOL for 24 hours starting this Friday (3/14) at the stroke midnight -- be sure to check it out before it's gone. Yes, this track has a name, but you'll have to take part in the First Listen to learn what song the band unveils!

If you didn't notice, that image to your left is the album cover of Out of the Vein. Third Eye Blind is BACK!! Hold on tight because they are about to take the world by storm once again!

Out of the Vein In-Stores May 13th!

Boo. smiling smiley

I don't know if by storm.

Goo can make a storm. Bon Jovi can make a storm. The B-boys can make a storm.
But there is always the possibility.

It's just that unfortunately a lot of their songs you just have to be a "true fan" to enjoy.

I can't even stand Jumper that much if ever.

I love Semi-Charmed Life and I'll Never Let You Go, but like I said, the other 10 or so tracks you have to really be into 'em to stomach it.

by the way, the boo was a joke.

Well, Never Let You Go is one of my least favorite 3eb songs. It's not about being a "true fan", rather it's about recognizing and appreciating brilliant music that might not fit on the radio. Wounded, The Background, Motorcycle Drive By, God of Wine, Darkness, etc....all incredible, powerful, and kick ass songs.

Please, if you don't care for them, just let this thread die, cuz I don't want to get into any arguments. Please. Cuz if there's more bashing I'll have to come to their defense...and...pursausive arguing is sorta my thing.

However, I'll say once again that Stephan Jenkins is one of the best lyricists in contemporary music and they put as much energy into their live shows as any other band. Sure, the shit that gets played on the radio can be poppy at times...but their albums...the music and lyrics are so beautiful and true.

Blinded has incredible lyrics. It's a great all around song. Hopefully they get some more commercial recognition for this record.

I'll admit that Stephan's voice isn't *always* up to par. However, the music still sounds incredible, and the band is very much into the show, getting into it and connecting with the audience. They always improvise and do kick ass intros and stuff, change things up, and do solos, as well as mix in some classic covers into songs. I've never been to a 3eb show that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

Hell yes, I saw this at TVCY. I can't wait till tonight to hear it. Do you need AOL to play it?? And if so can someone transfer it over to MP3 ASAP? Have any of you people heard the new songs (Live versions or demos) I've heard all the ones available but Palm Reader.

It might just be a stream since it's going to be available just for a day and it's a live premier. The dude who started this thread should be able to confirm. I'm sure someone will extract it somehow and put it on Kazaa so never fear in any case!

Word.

Yea, MP3 files are ussually fine but as I've been getting heavily into production lately I've been REALLY looking forward to see how they produced this album and unfortunately MP3s are compressed too much to illustrate that.

I have converted it to WAV though, and there was an improvement.
