My last customer....

Quick story...I recently left working at Sam Goody after 7 & 1/2 years as a store manager....I was the guy trying desperately to bring in Nine Days CD's on consignment, at least the first 3 discs.....

On my last day, March 14th (before the war)
a woman asks me if we have any patriotic songs, because she wants a version of "God Bless America"
I point her to the back of the store where the American Flang is Hanging on a pole and undreneath are CD's, DVD's and videos on America, 9-11 and other random stuff like puzzles and stuff.....
she goes over, and about 2 minutes later I finish with my other customer and go back to see if she needs help....
I ask her "how are you making out ma'am.? Did you find the version of that song or did you have someone in mind?"
She looks at me through the bridge of her nose and over her big glasses and says, "First things first.....I'd rather see this display somewhere up front....This stuff should be up front closer to the entrance...."
I said, "ma'am...I'm probably the only guys in the district that had the decency to put this display together and keep it up at least SOMEWHERE in the store.....My company won't let us MAKE displays unless they are paid for or directed by the corporate office....so if you think I have any say in the matter....Would would see many other displays, like my favorite bands still hanging up all over the place....Until then, tell someone who cares about your gripes with the world, because I'm outta here!"

those were my exact words to my last customer ever at Sam Goody...
Oh yeah....I sold my last Nine Days CD that day too
