lets play a game.....
chose my uni!!!!!!!!!
ok so i realise most of you probably have never been to any of these places, but you still gotta help!!!!! its down to two; leicester or york? york is a really old pretty city, cheap accommodation, coursework based course leicester has lots of cool live bands and other stuff going on. students seemed really nice there and seemed to really enjoy themselves. oh and i can fly there for free! both courses mean i can come to the USA for a semester in the second year!!!!
Leicester.
Stay close to home. Food and washing at home are the best you'll ever get. Oh, any why can you fly to Leicester for free? huh, huh?!?!
york...i mean, come on....it's york. just do it.
My sister, the other Heather, will be in York on... Sunday! AHH!!! So, go there.
Colleen.
York just sounds cooler..
puts on shades@ I absolutely love her when she smiles
leicester all the way, honey.
i mean....what would bridget do?? (GOD, i love her...sorry.) Post Edited (04-25-03 02:25) rachel......
the air squadron run a scheme for people with RAF scholarships, but they have lots a spare places so i planned on grabbing one of them.
hmmmm i think im gunna go find a hat and chose that way......
Put one person from each place in a cage match and the winner decides your fate.

Apart from all the nice extras, don't forget your going to be at uni to complete a course.
So at the forefront of your mind should be which institution is going to fulfill their part the best. I was fortunate enough to get an 'unconditional' offer on an Animation course in Wrexham, but due to the nature of their outlook on the course, equipment and from my time visiting there, I eventually decided to go to Hull instead. It's good that you're taking the time to visit them though. You'll be spending a good three years (+) of your time there! Good luck. What qualifications do you need to get in to the aforementioned uni's? __________________________________ "Live for the Dream" SKETCH
why would you want to come to the USA for a semester abroad? we aren't very international... i dunno. go to spain, now that would be hot. or...
new zealand? i'd say you choose... i chose my 'uni' as you call it too.. i'm pumped about next year YAY ;o)
is uni a really english thing? hmm never realised that one before. well im so proud of me i chose. and theres a whole day left as well!!
woo leicester here i come!!!!!and im on easy street cos i need BCC (grades) (including general studies) Post Edited (04-27-03 13:23) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rock and Roll Queen
I think they just have a different slang word for it....
...like 'varsity' or something..... _________________________ "Live for the Dream" SKETCH
I think they refer to it as "college"
....
But 'college' comes before 'uni'. (At least it does over here!) This is all pretty confusing. ______________________________ "Live for the Dream" SKETCH
University is what I think Sketch was getting at,

college does come before uni. oh dear. do you not have college then?
My useless knowledge of Americana rears its head again

The Brit Education System:
-Infants -Juniors -Secondary/ Senior -College/ 6th Form -University/Uni In that order. (PS: Spaztrin. I completely bombed at General Studies when I did them. Such a useless course. Seemed pointless. All the uni's I visited didn't even recognise it as a grade!) ____________________ "Live for the Dream" SKETCH
What aboot youth detention centres? just me then...
yea i know! what muppets. general studies is the most pointless thing ever, but my school sucks and forces everyone to do it. i never turn up. and then i get letters home. and then i dont go still. oh well
ok kids over here we have
-day care -preschool -kindergarden -elementary school/lower school -middle school/junior high -upper school/high school -college/university -grad school -med school -law school
...That's a whole lot of schools.....
We have 'daycare' and 'pre school' over here too I just never bothered to mention it. At uni, after completion of whatever 'degree' that you are working on at the time......you can usually then do a 'masters degree' which I'm guessing, would encapsulate grad/med & law school. And the mystery of the US/UK education system ends....... ____________________________ "Live for the Dream" SKETCH
us/uk schools are so different.....as ive just got to york on saturday ive had a bit of a time sorting out what sixth form is compared to high school. plus i have way less subjects here so uk schools have some advantage for me.....though im sure they will be harder.......

you get your bachelors of whatever it is you're working on in "undergrad" which is college/university... then you go to grad/med/law for your masters, phd, md, etc...
unless you are weird like me and are going to acting conservatory to get your BFA hehe. i guess it counts as college/university.
No! And it never will!
