Shipping from UK to US

I'm attempting to buy some stuff from a UK site for myself but the shipping to the U.S. in my price range is like 15 pounds and that's damn expensive.

Is this just the site being a lame ass or would it typically cost that much to ship a scarf and shirt to the US?

They've introduced that size-based pricing too though, so it might be more expensive than previously.

I think size-based postage only really applies if you try to send a solid slab of lead the size of a post-card. A scarf and t-shirt would count as a small packet, and weighs, what, at most 500g with packaging?

when i order items from mlb.com to ship to the uk, it costs 50 dollars.. which is extortionate. especially given that, when the package arrives, you also have to pay customs because nothing gets past fedex (unlike royal mail).

so in my experience.. thats probably right. the forum thing would probably end up being a lot cheaper though.
