Ha. You people must be tired of these Matrix posts. But then, you don't have to read them do you?

*Sticks tongue out*

So anyway. I got the 'Matrix Reloaded' soundtrack today and I thought I'd post about some of the 'choons' on it.

Firstly, the track that is to become the theme of the new movie ('Rob Dougan - Furious Angels') sucks lemons compared to the last movies theme tunes (One of which was by the same guy!). I'm sure in the movie it will sound super-cool but outside of it, the track loses all attraction. It starts off alright, but doesn't really go anywhere, and sounds pretty much the same for the entire 5:29. Yes. A long period of time to go without a bit of variety in the melody!

These tracks however are really well suited to the experience:-

_CD:1//

'Rob Zombie - Reload' (Kickass. Just like 'Dragula' was on the first Matrix.)

'Marlilyn Manson - This is the new s hit' (I don't normally go for this guys stuff or the metal scene in general, but when contrasted with the movie this is gonna rule!)

'Rage Against The Machine - Calm Like A Bomb' (Gone but not forgotten. This rapped Beastie Boyish tune is really addictive. So much so in fact that I may have to purchase an album. Perhaps not as iconic as 'Wake Up' was on the first movie.)

'Oakenfold - Dread Rock' (This track obviously has something to do with the new Twins characters in the film. Buy crikey, I liked this a lot.)

This one might not be:-

'Dave Matthews Band - When The World Ends. Oakenfold remix.' (Yes you read that correctly. This is very odd. Why oh why would you put something so tame in the soundtrack for a full on film. My guess is, this might be used for the credits at the end of the movie..... we can only hope. I'd have left the room by then! Its not necessarily bad, it's just not that good either.....)

_CD:2//

The second disc seems to contain the in-house ditty's that crop up during the film and are by no particularly grand, mainstream artist.

Notable tracks:

'Juno Reactor featuring Gocoo - Teahouse'

'Rob Dougan - Chateau' (Better than the theme tune!)

'Juno Reactor Vs. Don Davis - Burly Brawl'

The track at the very end of the second CD is a whopping 17:34 long. However it is your basic Matrix sound. Orchestral, somewhat operatic, but with mad beats!

My conclusions for this new collection of sound would be one of slight disappointment. There are no REAL iconic tracks that stand out as the definitive Matrix Reloaded tune, though I'm sure the theme tune will be adopted by many.....

This is far more dance orientated than the soundtrack for the first film; and overall this new stance works well. However mixing dance elements with other artists such as Marilyn Manson and the softer side with DMB makes for an eclectic if a little confusing audio experience.

The soundtrack also houses enhanced elements including previews of The Matrix Reloaded, Enter the Matrix (the game), the Animatrix and Final Flight of the Osiris.

It's certainly worth the investment for die-hard fans looking to add to their collection. Especially if you can find it at the right price. But I think some of the 'choons' from the first film were dismissed a little to readily. As a remix of tracks like:-

'Propellerheads - Spybreak'

...and....

'Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death'

...would have been an excellent improvement of a mildly exciting, soundtrack album.

I found out something the other day about the Twins.

I knew they were being played by British actors, but as per usual they have been told to over-act the accents. Great. Another movie that makes the British not only the bad guys but also super-posh. Talk about a stereotypical nightmare. I wonder if they will make all the American actors say 'ya'll'?!

Grrrr.

We'll see what happens..

I prefer overdone accents.. it gives the movie more flare.

Like hey man.. they're really British.. and they're evil.

It goes well together.

If the Twins are indeed viruses in the Matrix, do you think there will be a good guy called 'Norton', or 'McAffe'?....(a Scottish guy with a black leather kilt....and dreadlocked beard, who is predominantly drunk throughout the movie?)

Lol.

I didn't know they were viruses..

You shouldn't talk about not giving stuff away in that case.

I've watched the trailers but I'm not trying to get any more info than that.

But it's cool.. most people (aside from whoever has seen special screenings) don't really know "anything" at all about the movie so I'll let that little tid bit slip winking smiley
