classic bands
No one mentioned one of rock's first super-groups, Derek and the Dominos, yet? Yeah, they only released one studio album (and one live album), but that album is filled with some of the greatest rock and blues-rock classics of the 20th century!
While I support any nomination for Zep as the greatest band of all time, D+D comes up a close second for me.
i got the new led zepp live cd - how the west was one and i have never criticised led zepp but i can safely say they put on one hell of a show, i mean a 25min version of dazed and confused that fucki n rocks, so although the velvet underground will always be my ultimate classic band, led zepp certainly take the live award
ps its well worth buyin the new cd
zepplin. then comes .38 special. and then comes james gang. then beatles.
*purrs* catt I used to be a superhero no one could touch me, not even myself you were like a phonebooth that i somehow stumbled into now look at me, i'm just like everybody else.
"you earned major points with me on that one."
She only knows him because he was in Jekyll and Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar. I doubt Amy's heard any SkidRow records. ![]() ~lori~
Sweet Jesus, The Rolling Stones.
And what about Three Dog Night? The Doors? Cream? Of COURSE Zep. HENDRIX, people! (yes, okay, so he's a soloist) Not a band, but Elton John did a HELL of a lot for orchestration in music. Fleetwood Mac. My favourites. Don't taunt me, pleeeeeeeaassee! Dar --- Live your life just how you love to live it, things will all fall into place. rremember from the old website, there were little videos in the bands bio section, and one was of john talking about the first song he ever wrote, about the jekyll and hyde... hehe

HAHAHAHAHAHA...um....actually...that isn't true AT ALL. i grew up listening to most of the band listed in this post because my older cousins used to play them all the time ESP. aerosmith, skidrow, zepplin, pink floyd, def leppard, hendrix, the stones, ACDC, poison, rush, yes, and styx among a whole shitload of others. i already knew who he was. broadway trivia: yes, lori was right, sebastian bach was in jekyll and hyde and jcs...but he was also riff raff in rocky horror show before it closed. when he played the title role in jekyll and hyde, he sang all of the songs higher and brought them back into the key that they were originally written in. not to mention the fact that he was a FAR BETTER jekyll and hyde then that of "devil" david from baywatch. he also was playing jesus in the jcs tour....but they fired him for undisclosed reasons. guess you know to never mention a broadway show on this board again lol -amy nine days of rain "dude, i'm old" ~jeremy
Ohhh, you said Rocky Horror Show!!!! I LOVE ROCKY HORROR SHOW!!!! They performed it on campus and I got pulled onstage by the narrator and ended up doing a strip-tease, which was interesting cuz I was only wearing a black bra, fishnets, slut heels, and a slashed black slip that juuuust covered me arse.
What?!?!? Swear to god I am just an innocent lil' college girl!!! Dar --- Live your life just how you love to live it, things will all fall into place. Take your strife and try your best to sing it, in the end you'll meet your friends - Gabe Dixon Band

lol, i'm one of the hugest Richard O'brien fans EVER despite the fact that he's 60 (andstillsexy) and i'm 16. rocky horror rose tints my world and keeps me safe from my trouble and pain. oh yeah, and if you can find a Disgracefully Yours transcript (his one man show), read it. it's hilarious. he plays mephistopheles smith, a demon from hell. when heaven's in the music, hell is in control. the angels got the voices but the devil's got the rock & roll...
catt I used to be a superhero no one could touch me, not even myself you were like a phonebooth that i somehow stumbled into now look at me, i'm just like everybody else.
did anyone happen to see rocky horror 2....the one they called shock treatment?? i've never seen it but i heard that it was terrible
they should have a remake of rocky horror and let sebastian bach play riff raff this time hehehe -amy nine days of rain "dude, i'm old" ~jeremy
Aw jeez, I feel like such a shmutz....HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT ELVIS COSTELLO?!?!?
I mean...yeesh...he's only my favourite songwriter EVER. I only went and got thick black plastic-rimmed frames for my glasses because of him. And it's not like I made "The Daily Dose of Costello" a regular feature of my rotation show on WVUM, at precisely 10:55 every Thursday morning. Or did a happy dance when he got engaged to Diana Krall (awesome jazz singer...I love it when musicians I love fall in love.) Journey!
DON'T STOP...BELIEVING....! "Breathing out and breathing in is harder than its ever been for me..."
beatles
I absolutely love her when she smiles
Did anyone see that sketch on SNL a couple weeks ago from the blind-date service where Chris Kattan was playing his date tapes of himself doing karaoke of Journey? That's what I think of whenever I think "Journey" now...it's really kinda tragic.
Has anyone mentioned Jackson Browne? Or The Police? Je t'aime both of them. Dar --- Live your life just how you love to live it, things will all fall into place. Take your strife and try your best to sing it, in the end you'll meet your friends - Gabe Dixon Band
SNL is funny.

SNL WAS funny -Mike ![]() Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
Oh
![]() I still like it. I absolutely love her when she smiles
it was really good with mike myers and people but its gone downhill since then, obviously before mike myers era it was still very funny with like chevy chase (who is one of my favourite comedians EVER)
I miss Will Ferrell's "Bush" sketches, and I'll miss Mango now that Kattan's gone, and I'll really REALLY miss the "Brian Fellows" sketches since Tracy Morgan's leaving. Blargh. It's still funny, but it's no longer GREAT

no Will Ferrel, Molly Shannon, Sherry Oteria, Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan...
i think it's gonna take a while to get really good again. they lost some of their best cast members in the last couple of years -Mike ![]() Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
I definitely agree, but they definitely have potential with some of the cast members. Jimmy Fallon, Mya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, and Will Forte are all hysterical. Chris Parnell I just adore, and think was a good choice to replace Ferrell as Bush (although his impersonation is nowhere NEAR will ferrell's), and I think Daryll Hammond is SO underused. But I still think he's great.

that sketch is god -Mike ![]() Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
i like rachel dratch. i miss will farrel and molly shannon though. NO MORE CELEBRITY JEOPARDY!! i have every episode of CJ on here. and it makes me laugh more and more every time. not to mention the fact that sean connery watches jeopardy in Finding Forrester. oh. and colonel angus makes me completely happy.
*giggle* i haven't watched snl forever. catt Post Edited (06-06-03 21:23) I used to be a superhero no one could touch me, not even myself you were like a phonebooth that i somehow stumbled into now look at me, i'm just like everybody else.
My favorite SNL cast was acctually the Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, etc. mostly becuase many of the jokes from the original cast have been ripped off and reused in various TV shows, movies etc which really spoils it.
And on topic: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Police, Jimi Hendrix, Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and many many more.
