I'm sorting together my Christmas Playlist now, so that I don't have to do anything with it later. I need recommendations and basically 'pointers' to anything I may have missed out that I probably should have on this here list-a-ma-thingy for the festive season:

_____________________________________________

Coldplay - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
Paul McCartney/Beatles - Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time
Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree
The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York (Featuring Kirsty MacColl)
Wham! - Last Christmas
Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock
Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas
The Ronettes - Sleigh Ride
Dean Martin - Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
The Crystals - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song
Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas
Johnny Mathis - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

_____________________________________________

I know I'm currently short of a 'Winter Wonderland'... I was toying with 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' too... (there's a really dudey, funked-up remix of the latter on iTunes)... It's awesome.

Anyway, feel free to contribute. You can suggest alternate versions of songs too, that's fine. Cheers for the help.

Jimmy Eat World did a cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas." I also recommend "Christmas With You Is The Best" by the Long Winters and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Darlene Love.

Anberlin have done a cover of "Baby Please Come Home."

You could also have "She Came Home For Christmas" by Mew and "The Only Gift That I Need" by Dashboard Confessional.

I hadn't thought of that Mew tune. Cheers. I'll give it a whirl on their site, I'm pretty sure it's listed.

The slow acoustic Oasis/Noel Gallagher cover of Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody is awesome - The y used it in The Royal Family Xmas Special.

CHOOON!!!

Don't get rid of Slade, throw this in as well & put em at different ends of the playlist - sored.

trans-siberian orchestra - carol of the bells

no shitting you, this is possibly the coolest version of this you'll ever hear. it's not dorky orchestra, it sounds like metallica helps them out or something. very cool. all other stuff by them is good too but this is by far the best

Also, despite lacking in any mention of Christmas at all, Counting Crows' Long December always reminds me of Christmas. Plus it's just a damn pretty tune. Sorry; I digress.

I've asked KT Tunstall to cover 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' for the festive season 2005 after hearing her perform live on 'Later...'

It would be awesome. Vote here to show your support. I've also PM'd the lady herself so fingers crossed it could happen.

Maybe.
