They received little public airplay over here and I haven't personally heard or sought to hear anything past the second album.

Should I?

I'd say American Hi-Fi and Bowling for Soup are pretty similar but Bowling for Soup has more of a punk sound in their guitars while American Hi-Fi has more of a pop rock sound when they play.

bowling for soup is one of the worst bands ive ever heard

American Hi-Fi are still good. I saw them supporting BFS in October and they were far better.

BFS are occasionally catchy immature pop-punks with a whiny singer. American Hi-Fi are now less punk and more pop-rock, and are ace :-)
