Bob Dylan thread

The object of this thread is to come up with the funniest / most creative 5-syllable ending to the line "Bobby's in the basement..." from "Bob Dylan". I'll start it off.

Bobby's in the basement drinking a Hard Mike's

5 syllables people. You gotta do the clapping thing or something to count.

"Bobby's in the basement list'ning to Nine Days."

(see, that works because the apostrophe means you only pronounce "listening" as two syllables)

wha? are you saying I'm not at the level of Shakespeare? how preposteriffic!

I know that this board is international, but it's worth pointing out that Francis Scott Key did what I did (the apostrophe) in the "Star Spangled Banner." So Shakespeare, Key, and, most importantly, me says it's okay!

(Keep waiting, I'm going to find a Nine Days song where they do it, and then it'll be like, nyah! because this is a Nine Days board and so, yeah!)

Anyway, Shakespeare wrote as he would have spoken it, i.e. phonetically.

And if people didn't make up words, the english language (or any other) wouldn't progress. Bullsh1t is now in the dictionary. Is just progression.

Scott you ASS don't ever call me that again. Anyway, if you knew anything about Shakespear, which I have studied him pretty extensively, he spelled his name 4 different ways.....the most widely used version is SHAKESPEARE, but I enjoy spelling it SHAKESPEAR, which is also a way he commonly spelled his name. Thanks for watching my back though. 24 days baby.

Actually, some historians and scholars believe that the "William Shakespeare" who wrote all those plays and sonnets was a pen name used by Edward De Vere, the seventeenth Earl of Oxford. There was a real man named Shak(e?)spe(a?)r(e?) who lived around that time and was involved with the theater, but he is believed to have been illiterate.

there is also the theory that William Shakespeare was in fact a man named Christopher Marlowe, who wrote the play Doctor Faustus. the two of them had strikingly similar writing styles, the same average letter count per word, and Shakespeare popped up (coincidentally enough) almost immediately after Marlowe's supposed death. (it is believed by some that Marlowe staged his own death to escape a murder conspiracy against him.)

sorry, i've no website.

in any event i don't believe Shakespeare was Shakespeare

i think Shakespeare is over-rated when it comes to some works

especially Romeo and Juliet, which is just sub-par no matter who writes it

I dislike Romeo and Juliet only because of how it's touted as the greatest love story/tragedy of all time, but really it's just two teenagers with over-active hormones (perhaps I was being redundant there?). The disappointment I experienced back in 9th grade knew no bounds.

wow.....you people are amazing......I don't much like Shakespear, but ummm I have heard many of the thoughts that he never was real, but you know what.....It most absolutely was not Christopher Marlowe, who was alive during part of Shakespears career. Besides, a lot of people have strinkingly similar styles, it's called a fad nowdays.
