Goo Goo Dolls CD
After a while of simply listening to tracks of the Goo Goo Dolls that i have downloaded, I now want to buy an album, but am torn between 'Dizzy up the girl' and 'A boy named Goo'. Or even 'Gutterflower' .
Anyone who has or has heard all of these CDs, in you opinion which one is the best? ~ Sofi ~ "And so tomorrow there will be another number for the one who had a name."
Well, I'm a big GGD fan, and I recomend to you to listen to them carefully, cause each one is different.
For example, "Dizzy" is more like pop/rock sound with clean sound and good lyrics, and I would recomend it as a start for a new GGd listener. In the oyher hand, "Gutterflower" still has that "dizzy" sound but is darker and more introspective than any of their albums. Is a very very good result of the post-grunge sound with the alternative way and a good mix of acoustic and electric guitars with reflexive lyrics (my favorite) "Boy" is like the step before they went into the mainstream, so is a good combination of the alternative-post- grunge underground with some of the sound they have nowadays. Good lyrics, it approaches more to some kinda Nirvana than the others. Hope this help
hm i think gutterflower is better.. but as mentioned dizzy is better if youre just looking for a sampler or something right now
and also im a bit annoyed, the truth is a whisper track on my GF is scratched AGAIN, its like my second copy of the album grr.. someones out to get me. http://www.musiksite.co.uk
I've been a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls since the beginning, so I'll list all of their albums in my order of preference.
*Note: If you want a taste of EVERYTHING the Goo Goo Dolls have done, and don't want to make a decision, I HIGHLY reccommend "What I learned about Ego, Opionion, Art and Commerce". Its a LONG title that represents a LONG history of diverse music. Its got a few songs off of each album they've ever done (Gutterflower excluded) Check it out!* 1. Dizzy Up The Girl 2. Gutterflower 3. Superstar Carwash 4. Boy Named Goo 5. Hold Me Up 6. First Release 7. Jed "Breathing out and breathing in is harder than its ever been for me..."
wow, i love "what i've learned about ego, opinion, art & commerce" that is an AMAZING cd. must encourage all of you without it to go find it. I personally love it, great ggd right there.
Rock on... Kevin I wanna be with you forever, and tomorrows not too late... "Beware the fury of a patient man" ~John Dryden
Yes, I do have their first album. I actually have the re-release of it on CD (called First Release) as well as the original 12'' vinyl of the album. I found the vinyl on ebay, but I found the CD, as well as all their old albums, in the used section of a music store called Media Play fairly easily (Although I'm from Buffalo, so perhaps things like that show up more often)
Keep checking ebay if you actually want to own a copy, although im sure you can find the tracks online if you just want to hear it (if you've never heard their older stuff, prepared to be shocked and offended...its quite different) IM me sometime if you want more info: HeroicDiva "Breathing out and breathing in is harder than its ever been for me..."
