Clearly I didnt know that the Mercury Lounge didn't officially open till 7 and that John didnt go on till 7:30.
The guy who said that its going to be a short set and that it starts at 7 couldnt have been more wrong. It was about a 30-40 minute set I guess.
For some reason I thought that it would be less crowded than it was. Considering the early time, the turnout was good. Hopefully all the people I didnt know were record execs!!!
There was a vibe---its a NYC venue vibe. Im not sure how to explain it, but when they are playing on Long Island the show is good. When they play in NYC---its a whole different thing.
Setlist? Yeah..I dont remember. He played his songs though. They sounded good.
There were a bunch of labels down there--no names off the top of my head...some knew John from Nine Days, and I guess there were people there who didnt hear him before. John did the standard of talking with a boatload of important people after the show for at least 1.5 hours.
I guess thats it for now..
Oh wait...in between songs, John looked over the crowd and asked...
"Where the hell is Christina? She didnt come from Phile for this? THATS CRAP!!!"

Sorry about the bad information about the short set and about John going on at 7:00. That is what the club told me. They probably just wanted people there a little early to sell extra drinks! Ha!
Great show though! I spoke to John and Vinnie after and they both seemed very happy with the gig. Rock on!!
lol Scott don't joke like that, people will believe you.......and you were supposed to just tell them "it was good" keep them wondering. Actually I had tons of fun last night, I tried to get Scott to move up front with Jen and I, but he wouldn't budge.....So it was the two of us, and John thanked us for going up there. Then there was a third and gradually, though it didn't move all the way forward, the crowd did come closer and closer to the front. I have a beat up setlist and it goes as follows: 29 year old girls, worse than it seems, in crowd, brand new me (and does anybody know what Pouce is?), Ultimate Love Song, She wont get away, Anywhere, So Unfair. The guys were awsome, a lot better than how they played together last week. They actually like moved around the stage and interacted a bit. All the guys were sweethearts after the show as usual, hmmmm let me think, what else happened. Oh yea I talked to this guy from Columbia records for a bit, and he told me that RHCP and the GGD's suck......that wasn't very nice, but hey he has his own opinion. I totally was digging the atmosphere though....they should definately do more shows in the city. I have pictures too.....which I'll put up when i get around to it.
Madonna, dear friend...(ferris bueller shout out)
arent you leaving something out?
You better fess up.. (at least to me)
What the hell was a guy from Columbia Records doing there?
and what RHCP and GGD means? sorry

it was an industry showcase. people from record companies were there to listen. hopefully, this will help get john and nine days a label. however, i don't know what RHCP and GGD mean.
