Is that accumulated or just for the semester?

Re: GPA

Going through old posts....

I've been out of school for a little over a year now.

Just so you know, not one person has even asked for my GPA or a copy of my transcript.

So party it up, as long as you have a diploma with your name on it....no one cares.

True, no one asks for your GPA out of school, but do you realize how awesome having Summa Cum Laude on your resume looks? Gah. That's what I'm shooting for. Two more semesters to go, and I'm getting pretty close -

3.93 for last semester.
3.86 cumulative.

It does look good.

Appropriate work experience looks even better.
Re: GPA

Adj. 1. summa cum laude - with highest honor; with the highest academic distinction; "a summa cum laude graduate"

Adv. 1. summa cum laude - with highest honor; "he graduated summa cum laude"

And I know what you meant, sofia. "cum laude." heh. I saw Mallrats!

Oh, and Scott, appropriate work experience does look even better, which is what the whole internship thing is for, silly. :-)

Re: GPA

never had any cum laude or summa cum laude societies or anything

we had national honor society in which i was inducted into but other than that

well i take that back....cum laude, maga cum laude, maxima cum laude and summa cum laude were levels at which you could possibly place on the national latin exam

I wonder what its like to be remembered- John Hampson

Is this an inappropriate time to mention how many times the word cum has been used in this thread?

Albeit in a totally different context, but still.....

So now...I give you this............................................

Huhuhuhuh They said cum....huhuhuhuhuhuhuh
Re: GPA

Dweeb. :-P

We never had any cum laude societies in high school. Just honor societies. If I were to graduate college with my current GPA, I would graduate with honors, Magna Cum Laude.

But my life is complete, now that I know sof graduated coming loudly. :-)

I'm working at the Queens Zoo in the education department.

Exactly what I planned and wanted to do. Then in Sept. I'm going to be working in Texas also doing the same thing.

Experience is the key not the GPA. Plus, I don't think you learn anything in school except how to cram and ace an exam. You forgot the material a week later. I really hate the whole education system. It doesn't do anything except teach the basics, reading, writing and stuff like which could be learned in better more effective ways anyway and it also delays the entrance into the workforce. Imagine you graduated from school and had all the skills to be the top boss in whatever field you were in. It would screw up the whole system. You get out with a bit of education and some kind of idea how you want to spend your life. Then you first have to gain experience working at the bottom and aiming for the top. Yup, went on a bit of a tangent there but oh well.

Anyway, come visit me at the zoo this summer.

Those students who maintain a 3.75 or higher grade point average will be graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors);

those who maintain a 3.50?3.74 grade point average will be graduated Magna Cum Laude (with high honors);

those with a 3.25?3.49 will be graduated Cum Laude (with honors).

Re: GPA

..my school gives the top percent cum laude... so like the top ten

Re: GPA

Ah Colleen, my school's got a different grid for that.

Average Honors
3.9-4.00 Summa Cum Laude
3.8-3.89 Magna Cum Laude
3.7-3.79 Cum Laude

this whole fuckking post and after a 14 hr day scott makes me laugh !!!
Re: GPA

My school works that stuff close to how Lori's does. I think it may be down to 3.5 though, which is kind of ridiculously low, but I'm not sure of the exact numbers. All I know is, so far, so good for me.
