Wow! I just got home from seeing "Garden State". This is one of the best movies I've seen in a very very long time. Serioulsy, go see it! It's defintely worth more than the $10 you pay for it. Has anyone else seen it yet?

I wanted to see it up until I heard it compared to "Lost In Translation", which I tried my hardest to like but just came off as boring to me.
I thought this was going to be a "rag on New Jersey" thread
or
"Jim McGreevy is a homo" thread.
I guess I was wrong
it doesnt come out here til next friday >_< i have to wait til then, ive been wanting to see this movie since i first saw the trailer months and months ago.
I want to see this and I rarely want to see movies.
I really didn't get Lost in Translation.

lost in translation was awesome the 3rd time around. not so much ANY other time.
and mm garden state.
dude garden state was amazing, i just got back from seeing it.
erin if you wanna see it, i'm down.
and i love lost in translation ... you need to watch it when youre ok with watching something that doesnt really need your full attention ... and its worth it just for scarlett johansens rendition of 'brass in pocket'
hmm lost in translation? worst movie ever. boooring
~*wOOt!*
It's supposed to be really good. And I guess it is. If you understand it. It's soo strange I guess it must be good in some weird way. I just don't understand it. Someone explain that film to me!!!

Ok here's what i got out of Lost in Translation if it helps anyone
Its not really a "story" in that there's not really a plotline or a climax or anything, its more like a window into the lives of a couple of people at a certain point in their lives.
I've heard it described as a "platonic romance story" which makes it innocently cute. Its not supposed to be about anything in particular, its more supposed to be about envoking universal feelings, namely loneliness and the value of friendship/companionship no matter what form it comes in. Mostly I got out of it that every person that you meet in your life can/does affect you in one way or another, and that in its own special way thats beautiful.
Ok I'll just be babbling if I go on, my point was that its a movie more about emotion than event
diana - you hit the nail on the head
I'm so excited for this movie, it's insane. It comes out here this Friday. Eeeeps.

I haven't read any of these posts so as not to spoil anything, but I'm seeing it tomorrow and will give my full report afterwards.

I really wanna see that, but it's not at either of the theaters near by. Small cities suck sometimes.

I saw it tonight. Absolutely loved it. But movies like this get me in a bad way afterwards, in that whole "longing" mode.
Anyway, I'd see it again and will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD.

i just saw it the other day. i really enjoyed it. i really don't see the lost in translation comparisons (which i also liked and now own on dvd). i'll probably pick it up when it comes out on dvd. it's one of those movies that you think about for a while after you see - the kind of movies i love.
i also saw napoleon dynamite directly after i saw garden state. though i was highly amused by it, i don't think i'd buy it or want to see it often. maybe one or two more times.

dude napoleon dynamite ended with "the promise" by when in rome and therefore rules.
p.s. i like that it starred the girl from corrina corrina
