There were really only 2 that I saw that I liked a lot... and they were...

Jersey Girl and...
Along Came Polly

Along Came Polly was excellent. I saw the Incredibles the other night, it was alright. Harry Potter was also pretty good.

I haven't seen many movies this year, but I think I'll rank Garden State as my favorite.

I just saw Spanglish. It was a bit confusing... sort of. But it was excellent, I'd definitely reccommend it.

You should, you should. It is long, yes, but it's good. Hey, that should go on the rhyming thread...

The Last Samurai came out at the end of '03, but it was tops.

I ought to add The Alamo and Troy to my list.

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR !!!

(actually, i'm not sure if it's 2004, but elisha cuthbert... she's amazing)
Re: best movies of 04

troy sucked, mike. sorry.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
collateral
garden state
spider-man 2
the incredibles

and i liked the village... wasn't as good as the sixth sense or unbreakable, but better than signs.

biggest disappointment: sky captain and the world of tomorrow... the first ten minutes were fantastic, and the rest of horrible.

troy had horrible, horrible, horrible dialogue delivered in a horrible, horrible, horrible fashion. i did, however, like peter o'toole and eric bana and the fact that they showed both sides of the war pretty equally... doesn't make up for brad pitt's worse acting since meet joe black (and i love pitt, man)... oh, and the cgi armies. how i am sick of cgi armies.

Troy had fine epic war film dialogue delivered in a dramatic war film fashion. Pitt held it down as Achilles a lot better than I expected he would. And if you ever say anything bad about CGI armies again I'll whoop your ass.

You know, I only saw "Meet Joe Black" because there was a scene where he gets hit by a car? haha

cgi armies... not good. can't we go back to the days when extras were hired for mass scenes and locations were built on sound stages or found on location. everything's made on a fuckin' computer now. we can literally stop calling them "films" because there's no film involved anymore. we should start calling them cgm... computer generated movies, that's what it's come to.

Sometimes you have to pinch yourself and say "that was the guy in Fight Club". It's easy to forget.

I really want to see Garden State, but it isn't playing anywhere locally.

The extras are still hired. These armies aren't nearly as CGI as you think. It's just not possible to hired thousands and thousands of extras for these parts. So often-times they're sort of "copy and pasted" to makes armies seem larger.

man, i just watched garden state again on dvd (it doesn't come out until the 28th, but i work at blockbuster and get advance viewings), and man, is it good. definitely a pickup. zach braff impresses me so much with his writer, director, lead actor credit. and natalie portman proves she can act. great shots, great music, great story, all-around great flick.
