chuck palahniuk.

so chuck palahniuk is my favorite author. most of you probably recognize his work from the movie fight club, in that it was an adaptation of his 2nd novel. i wrote him a letter back in november and i didn't save a copy, so to be honest i have no idea what it said. i had even forgot i sent it. so this morning i was really surprised when my brother walked up to the attic with a package for me that contained the following items:

a squirrel beanie baby
one of those combs that looks like a knife, and it pops out
small box of chocolates
birthday candles
worry beads
confetti
a signed copy of fight club
fake tattoo
sunflower seeds
little hearts
a letter
and a hand-made beaded necklace that says: TO STEPHANIE BIRON, FROM CHUCKY P


um. oh. my. god.
best gift ever.

HOW FUCKING NICE IS THAT?

it's one thing to appreciate someone for what they create, but it's a completely different level when they're such a good-hearted person as well.

i think you should adopt an acre of the rainforest and mail him the picture they send you. or one of those sally struthers children.

by the way, how awesome is it to know that whatever it is that you cant even remember you said to him was so intriguing to him that he was inspired to mail you a box of fun?
