Anticipated 2005 Releases
I don't remember if we already had one of these on here, but I looked back a couple pages and couldn't find it so here we go.
I personally am looking forwards to: John Hampson - Obvious Oasis - Great band, I've been listening to them alot lately Weezer - Great band, I'm just hoping it'll be better than their recent efforts. Green was OK, Maladroit was good but not memorable like Blue and Pinkerton. Coldplay - It'll be interesting to see if they can do it again. Ryan Adams - Three motherfucking albums. It's gonna be awesome. Audioslave - Should be good as long as they've evolved, and it's not just a repeat of their debut. From what I've heard it'll be an improvement. Our Lady Peace - Just hoping it's better than Gravity Dave Matthews Band - Not my favorite, but they're good and I'm looking forwards to it regardless Queens Of The Stone Age - I loved Songs For The Deaf Lifehouse - Their first album was great, and You And Me has really grown on me Ben Folds - Great, underrated guy. If it's anything like his EPs it'll be great. The Wallflowers - I'm just hoping it's not another Red Letter Days Maroon 5 - I love them, and the 3-5 songs I've heard from the album are great. John Mayer - I'm a little worried, since he said he doesn't want any love songs and he wants to do collaborations with rappers on this one but I have faith he'll make it good. I'm sure there's more, but even with these it looks like it's gonna be a damn good year for music.

I'm really looking forward to the Weezer album and really hoping it's good. I've heard Rivers is visting places "he hasn't been since Pinkerton," so that might be good news as Pinkerton's my favorite album of theirs.
I'm interested to see if/when Brand New will get in the studio and whether their next album will be as big of an improvement over the one before it like Deja Entendu was to Your Favorite Weapon. Other than those two, I can't say I'm too excited. Not much of worth going on in music these days. -Mike Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
Genesis... if you love Porcupine Tree, you should listen to Blackfield.
Blackfield is a 2 guys group. one of them is Steven Wilson, lead singer and guitar player in porcupine tree. They released in europe a self titled debut. very good. try to find the songs "Hello", "Open Mind" & "Blackfield". I personally hope Switchfoot will release a follow up to the amazing Beautiful Letdown.
I really love how the guy in the Darkness announces when he's about to bust out a bitching guitar solo, just so you can prepare yourself.

the darkness is funny... saw them live and it fuckin' rocked.
and i'm also praying that weezer gets back to its roots. ~ Eric of Wisconsin ~ Nine Days and John Hampson music featured in my independent feature film "Will and Testament"! Facebook Page for "Will and Testament" IMDB Page for "Will and Testament"
I second the Dishwalla - Self Titled, out in 6 days ^_^
Better than Ezra - Before the Robots - April 12 Eliot Morris - Self Titled - not sure when Third Eye Blind will hopefully give us something.. Lifehouse Down Dexter - Follows you back - March 22 Stephen Kellogg which actually came out a few weeks ago Ok Go - Not sure when end of 05 I'm guessing
You have to be careful about the Weezer you check out. There's greatness from them, and then there's absolute ****.
Anything off of Pinkerton, though, is grand. And the Blue Album is good. -Mike Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
yes, the blue album and pinkerton and all the b-sides from that era (1997 and before, i believe) are phenomenal. some of my favorite music ever. green album, maladriot and the b-sides from this period are alright, better than a lot of music out there, but pales in comparison to their previous genius. hopefully from what you read, mike, "make believe" (the 5th album's title) will be going back to the golden era.

If you're gonna grab some Weezer, I'd start with the Deluxe Edition of their self-titled debut. It's a two disk set with b-sides, rarities and demos. And it includes my favorite Weezer song, "Susanne." The interesting thing about this song is the original lyrics include the line "Even Kurt Cobain and Axl Rose, when I call you put 'em all on hold." After Cobain's death, Rivers changed "Kurt Cobain" to "Izzy, Slash."
But the real reason "Susanne" is my favorite Weezer song? It plays over the end credits of Mallrats.
susanne's fun, but far from great. same thing about mallrats

Goo Goo Dolls should be "late summer/early fall."
Two releases I was looking forward to and now am happy to have because they came out yesterday are the self titled Gratitude LP album and The Goodwill's "Insult, Injury, Etc..." which is less poppy and more advanced musically and lyrically than their debut. Hooray!
I normally don't like bands to go backwards, but in Weezer's case I think it's really in their best interest.
