Everclear did a cover of Brown Eyed Girl that I absolutely love. Never liked the original though.

How can you cover Bohemian Rhapsody and have anyone think it's worth a sinlge listen? *Must look into this*

Counting Crows' Big Yellow Taxi doesn't suck.

Joni Mitchell's version is better.

Undeniably. But CC's is entirely different, and they make a great song from it.

Re: Great covers

How about...

any song that Me First and the Gimme Gimmes covers? Or any punk cover in general. I don't know why, but I love punk covers.

Jude - Everything I Own
Jonny Lang - Paint It Black
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Naked Eyes - Always Something There to Remind Me
Ben Folds - Tiny Dancer
Aimee Mann - One
Dope - You Spin Me 'Round (Like A Record)
INOJ - Time After Time
Jeffrey Gaines - In Your Eyes
Lazlo Bane (w/Colin Hay) - Overkill
Orgy - Blue Monday
Rage Against the Machine - Renegades of Funk
Save Ferris - Come on Eileen

(Yes, I just went through my MP3s, but I did leave off every cover by a punk band.)
