Laptop Problem

Laptop Problem
August 13, 2005 02:45PM
Fell off my bed, landed on its back, and now the prong-dealy that you plug the AC jack into seems to have broken off from inside the input on the laptop. Therefore, I have no laptop.

How can I fix this problem without having to deal with Dell and their "your warranty doesn't cover this" bullshit?

Next time I'm building my own.

But how can I fix this? Can I just go to any old computer store and get me a jack thing? This can't possibly be that complicated. It's just the stupid prong.

First.. the bad news..... that prong thingy is directly soldered onto your motherbaord... working at best buy.. i see this happen often. The usual fix for this is to replace the motherbaord in the unit... equalling in excess of 400+ dollars for the part sometimes. .... some more upbeat news.... I have in some cases seen that it only takes some minor soldering to reattatch this piece. I have only seen it on about 1/5 cases.. So that would be a lot cheaper.... lets just hope...

Replace the entire motherboard? That's gotta be a joke, right? It's a stupid little prong.

Excuse me while I hang myself.

So I brought it to a shop. The guy there was able to fix it up real nice-like for 75 bucks. I love the man there.
