Mike Talks About Music Some
Had the grunge **** and the pop-punk **** and the rap-rock **** and the pop-punk **** again and now the emocore ****.
When's it going to run its course and fade into oblivion where it belongs? I'm tired of people singing earnestly to Under Oath and The Receiving End of Sirens and Hawthorne Heights like they understand what "aquiescence" and "ambivalence" and what other polysyllabic words with the "ance" ending mean. Also, I've recently rediscovered what fantastic albums The Art of Drowning and Sing The Sorrow are by AFI and I look forward to their new stuff as long as they don't get stupid. And I haven't looked forward to a new record like the new Brand New record since "Avalanche" came out, based solely on the incredible leap taken between Your Favorite Weapon and Deja Entendu. And I'm so sick of seeing these bitch bands on Victory Records getting these disgusting commercials. They give guys who wear nothing but black t-shirts bad names and I take offense. And I really, really, really don't get Coheed and Cambria. Yes, I know they can play their guitars alright, and yes I know they can structure songs, and yes I know they've written a couple of catchy tunes that made it on the various music video channels, but I just can't get into them and honestly can't understand how so many people have fallen in love with them. Recycled guitar riffs, silly lyrics, and I didn't know sci-fi comic books were such a rage these days. But, whatever works for people works for people. Behind The Music needs to return. Even the one about The Bengals was awesome. And, to keep my street cred, Hollis Browne are so awesome lo-fi and underground, man. And you haven't heard about them and I have because I am so much better at music than all of you. Bruce Springsteen is a cash cow. Tell me I need to give some more money to poor people, Bruce. When's the next time you're going to re-release stuff from 30 years ago? I'll be sure to line your pockets with millions when you do. K-I-C-K-A-S-S THAT'S THE WAY WE SPELL SUCCESS. -Mike Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
I mean, have you seen this Niki FM video? I'm hoping they do this all intentionally, because he's sitting there eating and drinking tea with his beloved and her father and the father throws the tea in his face out of nowhere just as the big dramatic "RAAARRRRRRRRR" scream comes in the song and he makes this horrid, pained face.
It's even better than the shadow of the old woman in the Ohio video. -Mike Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails

coheed and killmyself are a rare breed of horrible as is hawthorn heights.
but mike... if you insult underoath (one word babe) again there is going to be a fight. as for jesse lacey and the beauty that is brand new... i just have one comment "if you can fit in my pants you can get in my pants" and you can look for that allison original in the next issue of "alternative press"
What solution is there to offer? Music runs in circles and turns into something else and I don't like music anyway, so blah.
And Under Oath fucking sucks. They make me want to vomit on my shoes and then take my vomit-covered shoes and mail them to the band with a note attached that says, "Walk to the mail box at 12:15 and so when they walk there at 12:15 a carrier pigeon arrives that explodes and fucking kills them in the face. If a man can fit into pants made for girls then they're fucking bitch fucks and any woman that goes for a man that can fit into pants made for girls is a **** and can go **** themselves, as far as I'm concerned. -Mike Go listen to my band. you started to get a little incoherent on that last rant, mikey. but it was nice.

I wouldn't say it's a great record. He's already released Nebraska and The Ghost of Tom Joad. I don't need any more of his droning acoustic nonsense.
I was referring to his re-release of Born to Run. I take it all back, though, because I watched the concert included from 1974 (or 75) in England and it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life and includes the best version of Thunder Road I've ever heard. Nothing but Greetings, Wild and Born to Run. Absolutely ridiculous, and while he was only like 24 years old. -Mike Go listen to my band. Haven't come out with anything yet. Been writing and recording for a couple of years and updating their website once every six weeks, which is fine by me, because it means there's an even better chance of the type of leap that happened between their first and second albums.

I'm all for progress, I hate those bands that churn out the same thing after the same thing, but I'd really like them to put out something to bridge the gap between Your Favourite Weapon and Deja Entendu. Something with as much charm and talent of the later but all the sing-along factor of YFW. Twould be grand.

That'd be fine. There was no transition between the two. Take AFI, for instance. You can trace how they changed from one album all the way up to Sing The Sorrow and it all follows a logical progression. That's totally lost with Brand New. Which is fine with me, really.
I read one article in Alternative Press where they said it would be their most "pop" album to date, but I don't really know what that means. -Mike Go listen to my band. We're awesome. http://www.myspace.com/rosencrantzny weallgotwoodandnails
Now that I'm not 16 years old and stupid, yeah.
