Do I know you?

Do I know you?

I'm sure you all remember that earlier this year, Paris Hilton's sidekick was hacked and the phone numbers and e-mails of her friends and whatnot were posted online. At the time, I sent an e-mail to Joe Reitman, Shannon Elizabeth's soon to be ex. It was basically a short "I love your work" e-mail to which he responded to with a simple "thanks."

Now, I didn't try to e-mail him again, because I figure he's a busy man, with his acting and what not (and I hear he's dating poker superstar Annie Duke). Today, I log in to my e-mail and what do I find? A Christmas ecard from him.

Now I'm sure it's just a case of my e-mail being added to his address book when I e-mailed him, but I still think it's kinda funny.

Sarcasm was looked down upon in Shakespeare's time in preference of puns.

Today if you utter a pun everyone groans and you have to apologize, while caustic sarcasm is just hilarious.

I find it interesting.

In Shakespeare's time you were likely to die during childbirth.

An interesting thing I've notice about puns: although they tend to get a groan rather than a laugh, people will like pun-cracking people more than sarcastic people.

It's all about the bigger picture, I guess. You won't get the laugh, but you're more likely to get the girl and the friends.
