Simplest Nine Days Song to Play on Guitar?

Simplest Nine Days Song to Play on Guitar?
January 25, 2006 11:13PM
Hi, guys.

I'm a beginner guitar player and pretty sick of 'Guitar For Dummies' songs like 'Oh Susannah' and 'Puff the Magic Dragon'! I was wondering whether there are any simple Nine Days or John/Brian solo songs that are simple enough to grasp for someone like me.

Do many of them need a capo? I'm not sure at all, to be honest, so any advice or suggestions would be great. =)

Thanks a lot,

Andrew.

"Still Here" is a great song for guitar, pretty easy too, only four bar chords so you just have to remember the order. The vocals are extremely tough though, for me atleast, huge range required. Tabs are below, I think they are in this key, if they are not, just shift them all up. (EDITED, I FIXED IT) (EDITED AND FIXED AGAIN)

~Verse
B#m 334453 --> D# 668886
Well you hold tight to your tomorrow
B#m 334453 --> D# 668886
Cause' there's no one here except yourself
B#m 334453 --> D# 668886
I did not come to beg or borrow
B#m 334453 --> D# 668886
Were you expecting someone else

~Pre Chorus (I thinks it is A-->G repeat, but it could be G-->A repeat)
A# 688766 --> G# 466544
And I will be there to soften your fall
A# 688766 --> G# 466544
And I will be there for the good of it all

~Chorus
D# 668886 --> G# 466544
I will not let you feel you?ve wasted all your time
B#m 334453 --> A# 688766
And every day we have is one more day that you?ll be mine
D# 668886 --> G# 466544
If my life is a flight and a crash in the sea
B#m 334453 --> A# 688766
I?m still here but I can not speak the words

~Verse (See above)
They say the rain will always follow
When you?re lost inside yourself
The truth is not so easily swallowed
When you left me for someone else

~Prechorus (See above)
And I will be there to soften your fall
And I will be there in the thick of it all

~Chorus (See above)
I will not let you feel you?ve wasted all your time
And every day we had was one more day that you were mine
If my life is a flight and a crash in the sea
I?m still here

~Bridge
D# 668886
Born with a heart defect
A# 688766
I am a father?s son
D# 668886
One day I will be here
A# 688766
The next day I?ll be gone
D# 668886 --> A# 688766
So could I steal a moment of your time
D# 668886 --> A# 688766 --> A# 688766
A dreamer?s eyes are always open wide

~Chorus (See above)
I will not let you feel you?ve wasted all your time
And every day we have is one more day that you?ll be mine
If my life is a flight and a crash in the sea
I?m still here

~Outro (Repeat countless times)
D# 668886 --> A# 688766
I?m still here

This is my take atleast, I believe it's right, except the bridge or key of the whole thing cause I'm sitting in class and can't grab my guitar to test it out. Practice along with the track. I stopped playing this song cause I couldn't do the vocals., Awesome song though, anyways, good luck!

I tried the some tabs found online for "Absolutely," one came close, but was still a bit off when played with the CD, I just never tried tabbing it. http://www.Ultimate-Guitar.com has good stuff, but lots of ads to tunnel through, but what site free site doesn't have'm. I started my early years of guitar playing off of this site. First song I learned was Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" about 3 years ago using that site.

Ok, I tested my tab out on the guitar and fixed it. The key was wrong so I moved everything a half step up, made sure the order of the prechorus was correct and it is, and fixed the bridge and outro which was out of order. Anyways, it should be good now, just didn't want to leave an incorrect tab unfixed. (EDITED AND FIXED AGAIN) The verse had a problem now fixed.

on mr tea's website there are a few easy ones, Good Friend is pretty easy, with a capo on the 1st or 2nd fret... 29 year old girls too with the typical G-D-A progression that John likes so much (257 weeks, the in crowd, Dirty Poet...)

Here comes a post from Brian saying how all the tabs on teh board are wrong,

yet he refuses to hook up the "correct ones"

Can't expect too much from a ranger fan!

there's your tool, you need the software but for the novice guitar player, this is a better way to learn =P

Yeah, I know, you don't, neither does John, as I requested it like EVERY WEEK last summer at the Village Pub. :-P
