Re: Superbowl

When your team flames out of the playoffs after such high expectations each year, you start to not care about the game itself, only about the commercials...
Re: Superbowl

steelers already have a couple under their belt. seahawks haven't even been in it. and hassleback is a good lad.

go seahawks.

The Seahawks had the audacity to defeat the Giants earlier this year. For that, they're going down.

what is the superbowl and why is it such a big deal in America, it was on in the UK last night.

Is it like the final match before the new football season starts.

Can someone give me brief summary of what it is.

Thanks.
Re: Superbowl

The Super Bowl's the championship game for the National Football League. Last game that counts for the year until the season starts up again in September.

I suppose it's akin to the World Cup, only it's just one game (there are playoffs to get to the championship but they don't get nearly the coverage).

Most watched broadcast in the country and I believe Super Bowl XXXVII was the most watched program in the history of the world, but I'm not sure about that.

You forgot one thing, Mike. Many people watch only for the commercials. Since it's the most watched broadcast, commercial time is very expensive and advertisers go all out for their commercials, which sometimes are only run once.

Which begs the question, would people watch if there were no "cool" commercials?

Personally, I think watching something for the commercials is asinine.
Re: Superbowl

i thought it was a good game (i'm a steelers fan) i was at a guys only no g/f or wifes party and had a great time . hung out with brian and jeremy(he's doing good) and John was the pussy of the night and didn't show. everyone there last night is already in for next yr.

as a side note ken don't use your pillow!!!

Re: Superbowl

My friends and I who watched the game here in Seattle, were all so pissed. The whole night seemed bias. If you were watching the game without the stats, you'd swear the Hawks were leading. All because what's his name Jerome needed to win the superbowl in his last game. If you watched the clips of the NFL players' cameos when they talk about wining the trophy and the going to the superbowl during the comercial, you see mostly cameos of the Steelers, and then one Hawk.
The whole afternoon was, YAY!!!! touchdown, wait wait, not gonna get too excited, we may get a flagged, and surely, we did.
And where was the "push off," I personally saw a catch interference. And then that last holding call when they caught the ball three yards shy of a touchdown that may have brought them back from a 11 pt deficeit, where was the hold?
Anyways, it's over now, and we won't be going back for a while.
Good try hawks, and way to go the 6 hawk fans that showed up!

Time to go back to basketball.

ps if i were bill gates and had like a couple spare million to spend, I'd by a 30sec superbowl commercial spot where its just a snap shot of my face with a huge smile on it, 30 seconds straight nothing flashy but a frozen picture, so my friends and everyone else can go, "what the hell!?!"

Re: Superbowl

I know all about being cheated by the refs in the Super Bowl.

Seahawks still could've won the game. Holmgren's brain seemed to turn to jelly by the end of the first half.
