I was as surprised as you were by the Western performance last time around. Most of the time, we half expect them to pick up the ball and run through the back of the net...

Let's have a bet. When the U.S. wins you send me copious amounts of that British candy I was going on about a couple months back and if, through some miracle, England manages to win I'll hook you up with America's greatest commodity: ground beef.

You mean 'corned beef'? Because that stuff is absolutley rank, and you can keep it.

Sheesh, Mike, you could at least offer up something half decent like Peanut Butter Cups.

Peanut butter cups it is.

And ground beef ain't corned beef, corned beef's the over-boiled Irish stuff.

Although I've got a killer corned beef recipe utilizing Guinness.

We already have them everywhere. We just have enough sense not to go to them every single day.

I haven't had anything from McDonalds in years!!

I prefer going to a nice little bakery. Fresh, meaty, sometimes cakey, but always delish. Always... Although right about now I could murder a BK Whopper. The biggest one. With everything... Mmmmmmn.

a US win in a group that's made up of Italy, the Czech Republic and Ghana...

It's not impossible but hardly possible.

As for the whole tournament; I think the Dutch will do nicely; Marco van Basten has a very balanced squad with experience (Van der Sar, Cocu), youth (Maduro, Van der Vaart) and scoring ability (Van Nistelrooy). I think they will do good and that's just not because I'm from Holland.

Italy will do well too. A world-class team with the likes of Nesta, Buffon, De Rossi, Cannavaro, Totti and Toni. Great!

i agree, zidane isn't the same as a few years ago. the french had a nightmare qualification. out of all the group winners of the preliminaries they had the least points. if you look at the group their in; they'll probably get through to the next round, may reach the last eight but it will end there.

I was going to tell you about Danny being on the Breakfast Show this morning. I guess I should have counted on you knowing about it. Heh.

The thing about the radio/TV live broadcast critique was hilarious!
