Favourite album of the year so far - snow patrol - eyes open

Just got this yesterday, 2 words: Amazing/Brillent. This album is really good every song on there could be a single.

If you get the UK version you get 14 tracks (3 are bonus tracks), it's really 13 tracks if you don't count track 12 which is not a song just the producer's kids talking and background noise.

Best songs are 'hands open', 'you're all I have', 'set the fire to the 3rd bar feat. Martha Wainright', 'chasing cars', and 'shut you're eyes', 'open your eyes', and every other song on there.

The artwork is really intresting too. This is the album of the summer unless keane's 'under the iron sea' is better or just as good.

This album is as good as coldplay's 'X and Y'.

Watch out coldplay!

I like 'Chasing Cars' for about the first minute and a half. And then NOTHING HAPPENS. And it loses all its endearing quaintness and dies.

This topic deserves more positive response. I mean, the guy is right, this is the best album of the year so far. Or maybe not, because Ten Silver Drops by The Secret Machines is better, but still, it is an amazing album. Coldplay is crap by the way, so it's not as good as x&y, it's much better.

Everyone who does not like Chasing Cars should buy new ears somewhere. I mean, it's the most beautiful song ever. All the other songs are very good as well.

Btw: the new Keane will be ok I guess. Heard two songs: Is it any wonder?, which is crap and Atlantic, which is brilliant.

I've got all except their first. Drops of Jupiter is an an awesome album, as they all are. I haven't fallen in love with new album yet but I need to listen to it more. They're kinda strayin from their sounds which kinda pushed me away at first but last time I listened I was starting to get into it more.

I don't work for snow patrol (i am not on the street team and i don't work for a label) and my posts are not always about them. This is my 2nd post about snow patrol- first being SNOW PATROL - EYES OPEN: JUST LISTEN IT'S REALLY GOOD.

This album is not better than Coldplay's X and Y it's brillent like it. There both very good in there own way. You can't compare the two.

Coldplay are crap? Don't be so stupid (I think you mean Artic Monkeys/Ordinary Boys), there's a difference you know.

A) Crap being rubbish musicians, not very good at playing there instruments, lead singer can't sing, rubbish songwriting etc......

cool smiley This probably apply's to most people on this board including brian desveaux. You simple don't like them or there music so you say there rubbish. That doesn't make them rubbish you don't like there music thats all.

I don't like red hot chili peppers, doesn't mean I think they are rubbish I don't like the music, but they can sing and are good musicians.

Before you call a band/artist rubbish be more specific and back up your opinion, eg: artic monkeys: lead singer can't sing to save his life, there songs sound like one big conversation- anyone can do it probably. This = rubbish.

Chasing cars is good, it like 'Run' starts of slow and builds into one big chorus. A festival anthem.

They couldn't spell brilliant either? yawning smiley)

Also, USAFALL, I totally agree with you re the whole difference between hating a band and them being catagorically bad, but it works the other way too. There's a difference between favourite and best. Read your thread title.

new train album is pretty good

new snow patrol is awesome, way better than coldplay x&y, that album was yet another step in the wrong direction for them.

See what you mean, I have changed it now. When it's December 2006 then I will be able to say if it's the best or not.

Does anyone like X and Y? I wasn't a big coldplay till X and Y I wouldn't buy there first 2 albums because the only good songs they did before x & y were: yellow, trouble, shiver, and clocks. First 2 albums too depressing.

I think keane's new song 'is it any wonder' is ok. I was expecting a really big piano anthem like 'somewere we only know' or the 'last time'.

I think trains music is boring, I only like the 'drops of jupiter' song.

Who couldn't spell brillent on here?

At least brian agrees with me - snow patrol are good, really good live.
