Does anyone do any/know people who do any?

I really wanna try one. But not one where you get picked up and thrown on the ground.

Two words: Krav Maga.

From what I understand it's pretty badass. Plus, it's fun to say. smiling smiley

i took karate in middle school. i tapped out at green belt. my dad took it, too, and i broke his foot in a sparring match with a block. that was the highlight of my karate years... and the fact that i kinda sorta learned how to use nunchucks.

You can but I don't think it's that common... karate is more of a discipline thing... learning to focus your strength.... depending on what you want is what discipline of martial arts you wanna take...

yeah, there's wasn't much throwing. just fighting against invisble opponents and the occassional sparring match.

I did tae kwon do for a while. You generally don't have to get thrown if you don't want to.
