Most people I know say the year as "Two thousand six" instead of "Twenty-oh-six."

When it's 2010, will you stick with the thousand or make the switch to Twenty-Ten?

I will probably stay with "two thousand whatever." About a decade ago, Marvel Comics created a comic line called 2099 and while I said "two thousand ninety-nine," I think most people said "twenty ninety-nine."

twenty ten most probably

Twenty ten. We talk about the Twenty Twelve olympics.

Probably two thousand ten... I don't know, it probably depends on what people are saying. It just kinda comes as a habit to do what other people do, without even thinking about it, I think.

I'll probably just call it Two Thousand and Ten.

class of Two Thousand Ten

sounds better than class of 20-10, which sounds like a serial code

If you think about it saying twenty ten makes sense though because we say nineteen ten, nineteen twenty, etc. and not nineteen thousand ten.

Thank you, musicdude. This "thousand" business makes me twitch. I haven't said "thousand" since 2001 started.

But we didn't say 19 thousand 10 because that would have been 19,010.

two thousand ten just sounds more natural to me. twenty ten sounds like some sort of ammunition caliber.

While I still think two thousand ten is the way to go, I remembered today that the year William the Conqueror invaded England is 1066, which I learned as ten sixty-six. Calling it one thousand sixty-six sounds odd.
