To People in your Twenties
The 20s are a part of your life that actually define what the rest of your life is going to be like, so yes, it's a big part of your life.
It's a quick, quick, quick time the older you get, though. Christmas is only a few months away and those few months are going to fly by whereas when you're younger it takes forever. Your 20s are probably the most important part of your life, though, as it's when you're first coming into your own as an adult and you're defining whether you're a lawyer or a garbage man. If you're not a rebel at 20 you haven't got a heart but if you're not established by 30 you haven't got a brain. -Mike Go listen to my band. I don't think so...because if anything I think it might soften you some. A lot of it depends on what they would face as well, everyone is different. A lot of soldiers have to help kids everyday while in the war zone, that might make them softer and more compassionate when they come home, while a soldier who loses his best friend in combat may be bitter and battle hardened. It really depends on the situation I think.

Surely this'd be the other way round; if you spent a lot of time with kids that have lost their parents, or all their possesions have been blown up and they just deal with it, and then come home and your next door neighbours' kids are moaning about how they've lost their iPod, You're not gonna stand for that. Surely you're threshold for compassion would be raised quite a lot. ~ Sofi ~ "And so tomorrow there will be another number for the one who had a name."
Sofi, are you trying to keep someone from joining the army?
I'm not really sure if it'd make someone hard hearted or not... I don't know exactly what they go through, but I know it's something I'd never ever want to do. I've got a friend who went into the Navy and it's probably the best thing he could've done for himself... he seems a lot more satisfied with himself and happier, I think. Yeah....a friend of mine is on an Army Scholarship at the moment. It really scares me, but he wants it SO unbelievably much and has really honourable reasons, so I'm kinda OK with it. But no, Heather, that's not it; I'm thinking about military medicine - not planning, just kinda...sticking it on my radar.
