Notes on Chicago, Milwaukee and Manitowac...

All,

The shows have been great fun, and well worth the airplane rides. This is just a very short recollection of the highlights from the 3 shows we did June 14-16:

6/14 - Bourbon Street, Merionette Park - First show with Stroke 9 in about 5 years. Nice to see those guys again. Luke is still really tall. I had the pleasure of being in the men's room and overhearing a conversation about why "Stroke 9 is opening for ninedays?! Who are they?" Then the other guy sings "Story..." and they both discuss how cool we are and how great the show wil be. True story.

The show went well. Big place, crowded, great sound and lights. We did a long set mixing in some old songs with the new. And adding some sax to "So Far Away", which actually works great. We've been soundchecking with "Down With The Ship", so maybe we'll debut it live on LI on July 15...

6/15 - Potawatomi Casino, Milwaukee - OK, we destroyed "This Music" that night. It was a request, and i thought i could wing it; no such luck. Fun show overall, met a few cool people from the board (3eyedalien!?). We may be posting what will soon be a legendary moment form this show titled, "The Milwaukee Incident" It must be heard to be believed. or smelled.

6?16 Metropop Fest- Manitowac, WI- One of the coolest shows we have ever played. Drank great espresso at Stumpjack, a cafe in a town about 5 mins north called Two Rivers, and met the cool guy who owns it, David. We may try to do an acoustic show there, its that cool. If i am even thinking of flying back to Two Rivers, WI to play an acoustic show, it either means i am getting paid ALOT of money, or it's just that cool of a gig. And I will not be getting paid ALOT of money.

The show itself was great fun. We jammed on "Muddy Water" with a 12 year old girl named Ruby Jane on fiddle, and Robert Montgomery on Banjo. Ruby Jane is an amazingly talented young lady who played a bluegrass set earlier in the day. Brian and I asked her to jam with us, went over it backstage, and she and Robert ripped it up. Awesome. We capped the evening with Stroke 9 and Ruby Jane coming back up to jam on "All Along the Watchtwoer" with us. We ended just as the first raindrops fell. Perfect.

Haha, "The Milwaukee Incident." I wish I had an exact quote of some of that, it was great. I thought about making a song request on here but wasn't sure it'd be fulfilled, haha.

We've been soundchecking with "Down With The Ship", so maybe we'll debut it live on LI on July 15...

That honestly just made my life. Seriously, lol. I've been asking for that song for about 3 years...John attempted it at Lou's bbq for me, but couldn't remember the words (I appreciated the effort, though, lol).

I'm thinking that we may need to have another outside/acoustic/barbeque/ pool/hotub concert in September.

and I think I know the perfect place.

Would that perfect place happen to be Minneapolis?? Haha. I'd be envious if you guys did that again... it'd be very cool to do something like that where it actually was all fans instead mostly people who've only ever heard "Absolultely."

What's wrong with Minneapolis? If it was in Minneapolis then i could come. Or if it was in Samos, Greece. Then i could really come.

Haha, if it was in Minneapolis, probably you and I would be the only ones that could come.

You definitely would NOT be the only fan in Minneapolis. I'd be there, not just with bells on, but an f'in gong too.

I can't even remember the last show they had here.....was it that show at the Fine Line??

The only one I remember in Minnesota was at the state fair, but I wasn't quite as into finding out tour places back then.
