Fake, you can reuse it the next year, saves money, no bugs, no dirt... a pole would work too!

I got a fake one because I hate stringing lights (prelit baby) and I dont have to worry about the cat drinking the tree water and knocking the real tree down.

That said he still climbs the fake one

Fake because 1. my mom gave us their old one, 2. we wouldn't have had one otherwise, and 3. that's all that's allowed at our apartment, anyway. It's pre-lit, which is actually somewhat of a bummer because then you can't make the lights twinkle. That's the reason my mom was willing to give it to us.. she wanted twinkling lights even if it meant getting one that wasn't pre-lit.

I remember waking up last year at my parents' house and the tree (the one that's now here) was spun around 'cause the cats liked to get hyper around it, for some reason.

I'm guessing the correct answer is a real tree because the fake ones will never decompose... but I'm not gonna say no to a free fake tree that's already been purchased, anyway... especially when that's all we can have here.

Real. The tradition. The smell. The vacuuming of needles. It's my childhood, baby.

Real + Christmas smelling candles. And lights, everywhere, lights.

Lights are fun. I had a tiny apartment last year and I put them around the ceiling of the main part of it.. so it surrounded my bed, basically. It was very cool.

This year, I'm in a much bigger apartment, and I wanted to hang some on the balcony... 'cause I had seen other people (same apartments but different building) that had some up. I looked everywhere, and there was no outlet out there. I don't know how those people are doing it. And then the apartment people put a notice under the door saying no real trees and that we could decorate the balcony with lights and that. I don't get it.
